Applications in sport
The mind is a strong muscle and it’s not one that gets exercised so much in the gym or on the course or pitch. Mind body connection is powerful and, when mastered, can take your performance to another level.
Having been a competitive athlete when I was younger I can see a huge benefit in working on the mind as well as the physical fitness. Looking back my coach did actually use a lot of the techniques unconsciously however there are a few that we know now that I wish I knew then!
The applications are great for coaches and trainers as well as individual athletes and sports people.
How to apply?
Modelling – who is your idol? In sports we tend to have a person we idolise, through effective modelling we can get inside the mindsets of our favourite athletes and replicate their skill.
Mindset focus – working on your focus and application thereafter.
Motivation - understanding your strategy and maintaining motivation. Using anchors to access resources.
Visualisation - your brain cannot differentiate between what it visualises and what materialises, working on submodality techniques to enhance visualisation and results.
There are many applications within sport and I love to see the results in this context as they are instant!
